It's a reminder not just of our rights but also a way to check our progress and highlight our failures in our now global village. Now that this document is 60 we need to look ahead so that economic, social and cultural rights are given the same importance as the civil and political rights we are often more familiar with.

Kenya - Food is a Human Right

Youth and clergy joined together to deliver food to more than 150 hungry families and two homes for children in Mwiki, Kenya. The youth took action to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and remind the Kenyan government and fellow citizens that food security is a basic human right that must be met.

Kenya has seen an increase over the past 10 years in urban food poverty. The government recently announced that the country would not meet most of the Millennium Development Goals, including Goal 1, which calls for significantly decreasing hunger.
